About Us
At Dharohar, we see handlooms not as a mere fabric sitting in your wardrobe, but as living art, stories woven in threads, carrying the spirit of those who create them.
In a fast-paced world, where everyone is running toward new, handlooms are a beautiful reminder of the beauty of the slow, the meditative pace of weaving, the harmony between craft and culture and embrace the human touch that no machine can replicate. They embrace imperfections as marks of authenticity, celebrating the small irregularities that are authentic to the maker which eventually make every piece one of a kind. A handloom isn’t just worn; it’s lived in, it softens with time, carrying the scent of festivals, the joy of gatherings and the quiet pride of its owner.
Thus, Dharohar was born from the common vision of two students of Fashion Management at NIFT Gandhinagar, who got inspired by the gentle rustle of their mothers’ handlooms. What started as admiration quickly evolved into a calling, to reinstate the dignity of the handloom, to give respect back where respect is due and to make handloom accessible to everyone. We saw beauty that was becoming a rarity, to artisans who were unrecognized, to traditions which were undervalued and to the beauty of handmade aesthetics that was being overshadowed by mass produced items.
Through Dharohar we plan to bridge this gap; to connect the artisan and the admirer, to share the story behind every weave and to ensure every saree wields not just the handwork, but the name and the pride of its maker. Our journey is rooted in respect for the hands that weave, the culture that fosters it and the collective history that continues to inspire us.
